22 Goals for 2022

Hi y'all! During this holiday season, I've been reflecting on my past year and what I'd like to accomplish in this coming year. I've created 22 goals (or resolutions. Take your pick) for this next year.

Without further ado,

1. Start my clothing business

I've been hard at work behind the scenes working on my online storefront, as well as my Instagram account for the business. I can't wait to get the clothing in my hands and ready to be sent out to my customers!

2. Get to the root of my health issues

This is something I've kept quiet on the blog, but I've been having issues with chronic fatigue, elevated heart rate, and low blood pressure for years. Although I've consistently come up with a clean bill of health, my symptoms have gotten steadily worse since giving birth. I'm hoping to finally be able to get some answers this year.

3. Get 1,000 hours outside

Although I can easily get this from my job, I will be counting my hours outside where I can rest, relax, or explore, since watching a bunch of teens outside isn't always the most restful time.

4. Weekly Confession

5. Attend daily Mass at least once a month

6. Increase my GPA to a 3.6 overall

7. Establish my personal decorating style

Now that my husband and I are finally moving out of an apartment and into a hopefully smaller house this summer, I need to be pinpointing and defining the way I want my home to look and feel. This is to cut down not only on the clutter, but also to make the house feel more cohesive as a whole.

8. Create a standardized shopping list

Between food allergies and the supply chain issues, having a standardized shopping list will make grocery shopping more efficient and hopefully can cut costs, since there is less worrying about if something is needed or not.

9. Create a more effective budget

10. Finish compiling my recipe book

11. Slowly declutter everything

This applies to things I own, my schedule, and any digital files. This is obviously a year long goal.

12. Transition my closet more to my style

13. Organize and file important papers in a more usable way

14. Learn at least 5 new recipes

15. Finish my to-read stack

16. Improve my Spanish

17. Improve my French

18. Learn 6 new signs in ASL

19. Finally take the donation piles to Goodwill

20. Read the Bible in a year

21. Pray a daily Rosary

22. Live more sustainably

That's all of it. Small things to do each day that will make a big impact by the end of the year.

What are your goals for this year?

New Year, Same Me (Probably)

It's officially 2019 and I'm already back on campus. Yep, the spring semester is starting for me. I'm not a big fan of "new year, new me" because when you set arbitrary deadlines for yourself like that, you usually don't succeed or you become much more tough on yourself when you fail. Failure is not inherently bad- it's a blow, that's for sure, but it's also a learning experience, a setback, but not a way of life. At least, it shouldn't be. This is why I've decided to make my new year's resolutions to better myself, but no longer through arbitrary deadlines.

I found that setting dates for things was causing more problems than they should. I would be anxious because I wasn't accomplishing things fast enough, which would force me to procrastinate even more because I was scared of failure or only doing things halfway. Instead, I just didn't do anything at all. That's not the way to live: even trying and failing is better than not even trying at all.

This year's new year's resolutions:

Post more frequently
It goes without saying, but I did a pretty terrible job last year about posting consistently. I'd like to get this off the ground and running, so I'm making it a goal to be more frequent/consistent about when I post. Even with more credit hours this semester than last, I still think I can do it.
Find a better work/play balance
Last semester, I spent a lot of time working hard and didn't do very much outside of studying until close to the end of the semester. It messed me up: my grades fell (right before I changed my ways), I was bored, stressed, and lonely, even with all my friends around. You definitely don't need to go and get blackout drunk every weekend, but it's not healthy to do the opposite and never see anything but the same two residence halls over and over again and never getting up from working hard. It's a much needed reset, and a balance I wish I had found much earlier in the year.

Fall more in love with God and Jesus
I feel as if I say this one every year, but that's because this is one that's just vague enough to accomplish more and more every year. My journey as a Christian is a marathon, and to stumble a few times here and there is not the end. Instead, I learn and I move on. God is ever faithful, and for that I'm grateful. He has a plan for me; He's brought me this far, so He can get me anywhere. It's only fair to show respect and adoration back.

I know that's only three things, but they're very important things that I recognize I struggled with last year and that NEED to be improved for this year to go much smoother. I'm not going to sit back and let 2019 happen. I'm going to make 2019 happen.

Back to School

I don't start back to school for another two weeks, yet I've already done my school supply shopping. I've bought a new MintGreen planner (in Walmart and Target stores only), and with senior year creeping up on me, I know it's going to become even more useful than it already has been.

I consider myself among the lucky because I already know which schools I'm applying to and what my intended major is going to be, but at the same time, that knowledge is also more anxiety-filled. The application for my top choice opens up August 1, so now I can only pray that I get in.

Life is going to be chaotic until about December, but I'm okay with that. I'll soon be going on to greater things, so for now, I'll enjoy what I have. Feel free to comment any senior year or college advice below! I'll put my favorites in a post in a couple of weeks.

Sophomore Year Goals

With school starting in just under a month, I've decided to make a series of back to school posts. The first are my goals for sophomore year.

1) Keep up my 4.0
2) Post at least twice a week
3) Make a regional cut in swimming
4) Get more pageviews on my blog. I'm personally hoping for around 15-20 a day, but consistently getting around 15 would be wonderful as well.
5) Buy a DSLR so my photos look nicer.
6) Spend more time with my friends and boyfriend.
7) Enjoy life to the fullest
8) Become a better Christian (however, this is also a long term goal, so I was not sure if that belonged with this post.)
